There are some codes available to bill for after hours services.
Medicaid will reimburse for code 99050 with records. These codes should be added to the original service code such as the office or home visit.
99050 - Services provided in the office at times other than regularly scheduled
office hours or days when the office is normally closed, in addition to basic
service
99051 - Services provided in the office during regularly scheduled evening,
weekend or holiday office hours, in addition to basic service
99056 - Services typically provided in the office, provided out of the office at
request of patient, in addition to basic service
These codes are not appropriate for labor or delivery.
After hours codes may not be covered by all payers. Premera's payment policies specifically state all after hours codes would be considered inclusive to the visit code unless the provider's contract includes terms for reimbursement.
