Alaska Medicaid Provider Message | Newborn Care 0-28 days

Writer's picture: Emily PasternakEmily Pasternak

I'm attaching a message from Medicaid posted 8/30/2024 in case you may have missed it.

"The Department issues new guidance, effective immediately, for Direct-Entry Midwives to

allow reimbursement of Newborn Infant Care from 0-7 days to 0-28 days (typically CPT’s

99213 or 99214)."

I'll be re-opening the superbill to allow for coding using ICD-10 codes Z00.110 and Z00.111. Z00.129 (past 28 days) is still not reimbursable for newborns with AK Medicaid.
